Job summary

McMillen, Inc. seeks a Geotechnical Senior Managing Engineer with a strong technical background to deliver exceptional service across water-related projects including fisheries, hydropower, dams, embankments, levees, and water treatment.

The role supports remote, in-person, or hybrid work arrangements. The candidate will mentor staff, manage multi-discipline teams, and develop client relationships while pursuing project opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical, Geological, or Civil Engineering is required.
• Master’s degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering or related field preferred; Ph.D. is a plus.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in geotechnical or civil engineering.
• Proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams and large-scale environmental restoration projects.
• Proficiency in geotechnical modeling software and engineering design tools.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage geotechnical investigations including soil/rock logging and lab testing.
• Analyze field data and plans to establish existing conditions and design criteria.
• Review geotechnical modeling using Slide2, RS2, Settle3, LPILE, APILE, GROUP.
• Mentor junior staff and perform QA/QC reviews of work.
• Develop relationships with clients and participate in marketing and proposals.
• Identify project opportunities and plan strategies with Practice Leads and Operations Managers.
• Manage changes to scope, schedule, and costs with appropriate verification techniques.
• Identify high-level risks and communicate constraints from historical data.
• Lead multi-discipline teams across water resources projects.
• Develop detailed designs for infrastructure including pipelines, storage, and pump stations.
• Support design and construction for water, recycled water, and wastewater projects.
• Collaborate with dam safety personnel for inspections, PFMAs, and risk analyses.
