Job summary

S&ME in Cincinnati, Ohio is seeking a Geotechnical Project Engineer - Project Manager to lead geotechnical investigations from planning through completion, coordinating field and lab teams, and delivering clear reports for public and private sector projects.

You will analyze soils and groundwater data, manage budgets, and mentor junior staff while maintaining rigorous safety and quality standards. A PE license or eligibility within 6 months is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Mining, or related engineering field.
• Minimum 6 years of geotechnical engineering experience, including 2+ years in project management.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate geotechnical investigations by coordinating subsurface explorations, field observations, and laboratory testing.
• Analyze soil, rock, and groundwater data to support foundations and site development.
• Manage project financial performance, including budgeting, invoicing, and profitability.
• Prepare geotechnical reports, calculations, and design recommendations with clear communication.
• Coordinate with project managers, field staff, subcontractors, and clients to address questions and challenges.
• Mentor junior staff and promote safety, quality, and professional development.
