GeoSpecialties is seeking a Geotechnical Project Engineer to join our Lexington, KY team. You will support geotechnical and construction projects through field investigations, analysis, design, and reporting.

The ideal candidate combines office design work with field experience to build practical engineering judgment. This hybrid role includes site visits, client coordination, and collaboration with engineers and field staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil/geotechnical engineering or related field.
• 2–8 years of geotechnical/civil/materials testing experience.
• Engineer-in-Training or ability to obtain EIT.
• Understanding of soil mechanics and foundation engineering.
• Ability to read boring logs, lab data, construction drawings and specs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Valid driver’s license; willingness to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical tasks under supervision of senior engineers.
• Plan and coordinate field investigations (borings, test pits, sampling).
• Review boring logs, lab data, geology, groundwater, and drawings.
• Prepare geotechnical reports, construction observation reports, specs, and proposals.
• Provide geotechnical recommendations for foundations and earthwork.
• Prepare sketches, calculations, and technical memoranda.
• Evaluate shallow/deep foundations and earth retention systems.
• Do field work: logging soils, geotechnical testing, construction observation.
• Document field activities and communicate conditions to team.
• Maintain organized project files and calculations.
• Collaborate with engineers, drafters, field staff, and clients.
