Job summary

Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to manage geotechnical and geological projects, lead field investigations, and develop reports and designs.

The role requires strong analytical and communication skills, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and the ability to translate complex engineering concepts for clients and project teams. California licensure is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training Certification in California.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; sound technical background in soil and rock mechanics.
  • Attention to detail and dedication to quality and accuracy.
  • Experience with various commercial geotechnical software.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct geotechnical (preliminary and forensics) and geological investigations.
  • Perform field inspections and testing for construction projects.
  • Analyze data and prepare geotechnical reports on soil conditions and foundation design.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction teams to develop solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance on geological and geotechnical issues throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Manage projects from planning through completion and track progress.
  • Review plans and drawings for compliance with specs.
  • Prepare proposals and cost estimates; participate in project meetings.
