S&ME, Inc. in Nashville, TN, is seeking a Geotechnical Project Engineer to lead and support geotechnical projects from planning through completion.

You will evaluate site conditions, interpret subsurface data, and develop practical engineering solutions while coordinating with project managers, field teams, and clients. This full-time role offers hands-on fieldwork, safety leadership, and opportunities to mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Mining, or a related engineering field.
• Minimum of 4 years of related geotechnical engineering experience, preferably with project management responsibilities.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate geotechnical studies, subsurface investigations, fieldwork, and lab testing to meet timelines and budgets.
• Interpret soil, rock, and groundwater conditions to support foundations and site development.
• Develop engineering reports, calculations, and design recommendations communicating findings.
• Collaborate with project managers, field personnel, subcontractors, and clients to resolve technical issues.
• Mentor junior staff and uphold safety, quality standards, and professional growth.
