Your Role: Hands-On, Impactful, and Fast-Paced
As a
Geotechnical Project Engineer based out of our
Indianapolis, Indiana office, you will oversee the management and execution of geotechnical engineering services from inception to completion. Your projects will encompass subsurface explorations, slope stability evaluations, construction support services, and more, supporting a variety of civil infrastructure projects including roadways, bridges, and buildings. You will be responsible for ensuring the technical accuracy and quality of all geotechnical deliverables, while also managing client relationships and project budgets.
What You'll Do:
- Data Evaluation: Evaluate and synthesize intricate geotechnical laboratory test results and field data to inform project decisions, ensuring data accuracy and reliability.
- Engineering Expertise: Apply robust geotechnical engineering principles to analyze shallow and deep foundations, slope stability, and settlement, and provide recommendations for ground improvement and foundation design to address project-specific challenges.
- Communication: Regularly communicate with subcontractors and external clients to ensure project alignment and address any issues promptly, while contributing to business development efforts for S&ME by identifying new opportunities and maintaining client relationships.
- Technical Reporting: Write detailed technical reports, prepare comprehensive proposals, and actively participate in marketing and business development pursuits to expand the company's geotechnical services.
- Leadership: Lead by example, actively supporting internal policies and practices, including health and safety, risk management, project management, and quality management, while mentoring and guiding a team of geotechnical engineers and technicians to foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
What We're Looking For:
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, Mining, or a related engineering field
- A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in Geotechnical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, and related experience
- A Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Excellent computer skills, including at a minimum, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD
What to Expect:
With the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Outdoor, hands-on work in all weather conditions
- Walking over rough terrain and standing for long periods (up to 12 hours)
- Lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs. of materials and equipment
- Safely handling field tools and maneuvering equipment on active construction sites
