Job summary

WSP is seeking a Geotechnical Engineering Lead to join the Geotechnical and Tunneling Team in the Boston area. The role will manage mid-to-large scale projects, coordinate cross-functional teams, and oversee geotechnical design for bridges, tunnels, and earth structures.

Expertise in geotechnical engineering, strong writing and communication skills, and PE licensure are required. Travel to field sites and client meetings will be necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with geotechnical or tunneling focus
  • 7–10 years of relevant experience
  • Engineer license required
  • Geotechnical engineering knowledge with related disciplines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with design software (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GeoSlope, Plaxis, LPILE, GROUP, GRLWEAP, SEEP/W)
  • Willingness to travel and perform field work
  • Ability to coordinate with subcontractors and teams

Responsibilities

  • Perform geotechnical design and analyses for bridges, buildings, tunnels, and retaining structures
  • Prepare geotechnical memoranda, data reports, and design reports
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for concepts and recommendations
  • Coordinate geotechnical work across New England and other areas
  • Manage design and construction phases of infrastructure projects
  • Develop and apply advanced geotechnical technologies and modeling techniques
  • Oversee cross-functional teams, budgets, and task tracking
  • Review and approve infrastructure design plans for codes and regulations
  • Prepare data visualizations and illustrations for complex data
  • Stay current with geotechnical engineering practices
  • Perform additional duties as required by business needs
