Job summary

Nevada Department of Transportation seeks an Engineering Technician 1 underfill in the Geotechnical Lab in Carson City, NV. The incumbent will conduct soil and aggregate testing to meet roadway specifications and assist engineers with field and lab work.

This entry-level position provides exposure to drafting, data collection, and reporting while working on-site in a single-lab environment. Advancement to the Engineering Technician 3 is possible after meeting minimum qualifications and

Qualifications

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of experience involving public contact; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Responsibilities

Conduct tests on soil and aggregate materials to ensure they meet specification requirements for roadway projects.
Assist engineers in performing field and laboratory tests and setting up equipment; gather and compile data, analyze technical problems, and ensure accuracy and conformance to standards.
Maintain records and prepare data and technical reports for project and inspection purposes.
Perform field inspections of construction projects, well locations and water use, and collect data for reporting and quality control.
Perform drafting and data entry tasks related to testing results and project documentation.
