Job summary

Nevada Department of Transportation is seeking an Engineering Technician 3 located in the Geotechnical Lab in Carson City, NV. The incumbent will perform a broad range of technical engineering tasks, including soil and aggregate testing, drafting, surveying, and data analysis to support roadway projects.

The role requires a degree and/or experience in engineering-related fields, with opportunities for progression upon meeting qualifications and performance standards.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in engineering, physics, math or closely related field with 1 year of related experience; OR high school diploma with 2 years of related experience; OR 1 year as Engineering Technician II in Nevada State service; OR equivalent combination.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with field and laboratory tests and setting up equipment.
• Gather and compile data, analyze technical problems and conduct research.
• Analyze data to ensure accuracy and conformance to policies and standards.
• Maintain records and data for analysis and reporting.
• Perform field inspections, surveying, drafting and right-of-way duties as needed.
• Calibrate and maintain lab and field testing equipment.
