Job summary

AngloGold Ashanti North America Inc. is offering a Geotechnical Engineering Intern position based in Las Vegas, NV or Denver, CO. The internship centers on a 12-week project with hands-on experience, culminating in a presentation to technical leadership.

You will collaborate with Geotechnical and Mine Planning teams, reviewing design criteria, performing data analysis, and contributing to trade-off studies. The program emphasizes practical, project-driven work and professional development.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a rising senior in an undergraduate program or final-year master's/PhD student pursuing a degree in Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Foundational understanding of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, hydrology, and engineering geology principles.
• Familiarity with open-pit operations and geotechnical software (Rocscience, Unwedge) or mine planning tools is a plus.
• Strong technical writing, reporting, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Own a dedicated 12-week project and deliver a final technical report and presentation.
• Review geotechnical engineering deliverables and design criteria for open-pit slopes, waste dumps, and related infrastructure.
• Assist the team in technical trade-off studies to support geotechnical design and mine planning solutions.
• Support the design, execution, and data analysis of geotechnical investigation and testwork programs with the engineering team.
