Job summary

Hanson Professional Services Inc. seeks a Geologist or Geological Engineer to join our Railway Market Unit in St. Louis, MO. Responsibilities include desktop geological assessments, field data collection, and coordination of drilling and lab testing contractors.

Minimum qualifications include a geology/geological engineering degree, 0–2 years' experience, and willingness to travel. The position offers competitive compensation and a safety-sensitive environment with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in geology or geological engineering.
• 0-2 years of experience.
• GRIT/FE preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Ability to write clearly and concisely; computer skills required.
• Ability to use gINT and other commercial programs to generate final logs.
• Candidate must be willing to accept out-of-town travel assignments and work overtime.
• This is a safety-sensitive position.

Responsibilities

• Lead in geotechnical explorations; planning, field reconnaissance, coordination and supervision of subcontractors, supervision of field testing and data collection.
• Lead in field safety and quality control.
• Develop geo-material design parameters, conduct modeling/analysis and design, and perform calculations.
• Perform complex geotechnical engineering calculations, use computer software for analysis and design, and work with team members for project completion.
• Prepare geotechnical reports, specifications, details, and construction plans.
• Assign duties and mentor entry level staff.
• Provide quality control by reviewing technical concepts, calculations, and reports prepared by others.
• Other duties as assigned.
