Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a Geotechnical Field Technician in Florida to perform field and laboratory testing for geotechnical and construction materials projects. The role focuses on subsurface exploration, construction observation, and hands-on testing under project managers and senior staff.

You will develop technical skills through hands-on experience and certification programs while maintaining a customer‑service mindset aligned with ECS Core Values.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One certification must be completed within the 90-day introductory period, and all basic certifications must be completed within 270 days of employment (Radiation Safety, Soils I, Concrete I).
• If driving for ECS, a valid driver's license is required.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to read maps and interpret construction plans.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work in field conditions and varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Performs layout of borings and test pits using surveying techniques and GPS.
• Observes and classifies soils, test pits, and subsurface conditions.
• Performs field testing (DCP, hand auger) and related investigations.
• Logs soil samples and documents field observations.
• Supports data reduction and field/project documentation.
• Communicates site conditions and testing activities daily with contractors and team.
• Assists with reports, calculations, and documentation.
• Maintains field equipment and test result records.
