Job summary

ECS Southeast, LLP is seeking a Geotechnical Field Technician for field-based testing in geotechnical and construction materials projects. The role emphasizes subsurface exploration, construction observation, and hands-on material testing under project managers and senior staff.

Responsibilities include boring layout, soil observation, DCP testing, and documentation of field results. Requires strong communication, basic math, and the ability to operate under field conditions; certifications

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
0 years of related experience.
One certification must be completed within 90 days; all basic certifications within 270 days (Radiation Safety, Soils I, Concrete I).
Valid driver's license if driving for ECS subsidiary.
Ability to read maps, follow directions, and interpret construction plans.

Responsibilities

Layout borings and test pits using conventional surveying techniques and GPS.
Observe and classify soils, test pits, and subsurface conditions.
Perform field testing, sampling, and inspection of soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and more.
Log soil samples and document field observations; assist with data reduction and reports.
Communicate with contractors and project teams about site conditions and testing activities.
