Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a motivated Geotechnical Field Technician to perform fieldwork, assist with drilling operations, and support subsurface investigations in Wisconsin. You will obtain utility clearances, prepare field plans, and document observations in a team environment.

The role requires pursuing a Civil Engineering-related degree, internship experience, and certifications completed within set timelines. A valid driver's license is required when driving for ECS subsidiaries.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an Associate/Bachelor/Master degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• One internship with ECS or another firm is required.
• 90 days of related experience or internship experience.
• One certification must be completed within the 90-day introductory period, and all basic certifications completed within 270 days including: Radiation Safety, Soils I, Concrete I.
• Valid driver's license required if driving for ECS.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical fieldwork and support subsurface exploration activities.
• Assist with scheduling drilling operations and coordinating field efforts.
• Obtain utility clearances for subsurface investigation activities.
• Support preparation of drilling instructions and field plans.
• Perform boring and test pit layout using surveying and GPS equipment.
• Observe and classify soils and test pits.
• Prepare boring logs and location diagrams.
• Perform hand auger borings to obtain soil samples and subsurface data.
• Assist with or perform specialized testing (e.g., Pile Driving Analyzer testing).
• Support site seismic testing and other geotechnical investigations.
• Observe foundation construction and ground improvement installations.
• Document field observations and support data collection and reporting.
• Perform other field or project support tasks as assigned.
