Job summary

ECS Group of Companies in Ohio is seeking a field technician to perform geotechnical fieldwork and support subsurface exploration activities. You will assist with drilling operations, scheduling, and field coordination while obtaining utility clearances and preparing field plans.

The role requires pursuing a Civil Engineering degree, with at least 90 days of related experience or an internship, and completing core certifications within 270 days.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an accredited civil engineering program.
• Must have at least 90 days of related experience or an internship.
• Pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• One certification must be completed within 90 days; Radiation Safety, Soils I, Concrete I to be completed within 270 days; other certifications may be required for Level 2.

Responsibilities

• Performs geotechnical fieldwork and supports subsurface exploration activities.
• Assists with scheduling drilling operations and coordinating field efforts.
• Obtains utility clearances for subsurface investigation activities.
• Supports preparation of drilling instructions and field plans.
• Performs boring and test pit layout using surveying and GPS equipment.
• Observes and classifies soils and test pits.
