Job summary

SCS Engineers is seeking a highly experienced Geotechnical Expert to serve as a Technical Advisor across landfill and environmental projects. You will mentor junior engineers nationwide, guide design and QA activities, and engage in client-focused, innovative geotechnical solutions.

The role emphasizes leadership in soil and groundwater investigations, regulatory permitting, and overseeing geotechnical assessments.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in geotechnical engineering required.
• Must be a registered professional engineer in at least one state with the ability to apply for reciprocity in others where needed.
• 10+ years of related work experience required.
• 20+ years of related work experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Geotechnical Expert and Technical Advisor on geotechnical aspects of landfills and facility design.
• Assist with construction quality assurance (CQA) and soil/groundwater remediation projects.
• Conduct geotechnical/hydrogeological investigations for waste management facilities.
• Provide siting, design and regulatory permitting support for landfills and expansions.
• Develop proposals and cost estimates for new projects and train SCS staff.
• Present at internal meetings and participate in conferences and professional associations.
