WSP is currently initiating a search for aGeotechnical Engineering Vice President for ourAustin, Texasoffice!

This Opportunity

Be involved in projects with ourGeotechnical & Tunneling Team, take on a leadership role, and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact

  • Manage a team of geotechnical and tunneling engineers in Austin and Texas area including tracking active projects and budgets, delegating tasks, coordinating across disciplines within project teams, coordinating with subconsultants, reviewing work, and providing professional guidance.
  • Contribute to proposal and cost estimate development and track business development opportunities, both internally and externally.
  • Perform professional geotechnical engineering work including design for tunneling projects, subsurface investigations, soil foundation engineering, settlement analysis, soil erosion, lateral earth pressures, geological hazards, underground water, slope stability, and operations to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, construction, or operating permits for commercial, industrial, building, environmental, infrastructure, and transportation projects.
  • Apply high-level geotechnical engineering techniques and processes to identify improvements for various infrastructure project phases including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation.
  • Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates; preparing construction safety and phasing plans, and updating infrastructure layout plans that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, drillers, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
  • Support the team for TxDOT, Transportation, Energy, and Ports projects pursuits. Provide technical support
  • Remain current in latest geotechnical engineering techniques and practices.
  • Collaborates with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide future-ready solutions for clients.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical Engineering focus
  • 12+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering and geotechnical design.
  • Texas PE registration.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP"s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering.
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
