Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a Geotechnical Engineering Intern to join our multidisciplinary team on transportation infrastructure projects.

You will apply geotechnical design and analysis of foundations, retaining structures, and slopes under the guidance of professional engineers. Pursuing a civil engineering degree with Geotech focus and a minimum 3.0 GPA; familiarity with MS Office; ideally an MS degree and prior geotechnical internship.

Qualifications

Your impact

Jacobs is seeking a Geotechnical Engineering Intern to join our team in Milwaukee, WI, working on projects that bring innovative solutions to our clients’ challenges locally and worldwide.

In this position you will work with a multidisciplinary team taking on a variety of tasks that blend your theoretical knowledge with practical application. Under the guidance of professional engineers, architects and other senior technical staff you will perform geotechnical engineering design and analysis of foundation systems, retaining structures and slopes for transportation infrastructure projects for both public and private clients.

Your engineering skills will be developed with design and analysis of shallow and deep foundations including piles and drilled shafts, retainingwalls, and support of excavation systems. You’ll also inspect geotechnical exploratory, construction related activities and specifically, develop as well as oversight of subsurface investigation and laboratory testing programs.

This position demands a results-driven, client-focused professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a strong work ethic. You’ll take ownership of the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the work assigned to you by demonstrating the ability to progress from basic design work assignments to more complicated and involved projects working in conjunction with a technical team. Your ability to manage your time and responsibilities effectively while maintaining a high standard work product will be instrumental in delivering successful project outcomes.

Here’s what you’ll need

Ideally, you’ll also have:

• Knowledge of and experience with Ensoft, LPile, and Group GeoStudio Slope and Sigma, GRLWeap, Civiltech Shoring Suite, Bentley gINT, Bentley MicroStation, and AutoCAD
• Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship, now or in the future

The base salary range for this position is $45,000.00 to $65,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
