Burns & McDonnell in Vancouver, WA is seeking an Engineering Intern to support the Geotechnical Department with design tasks, data collection, and project assistance. You will work under a geotechnical engineer and gain hands‑on experience.
The internship offers exposure to geotechnical design from concept through design completion, data compilation, and subsurface exploration planning, with opportunities to present findings and contribute to multiple projects.
Our Engineering Interns are responsible for performing tasks requiring the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures. This includes standard design of engineering systems, correcting and updating designs, assisting lead engineers with various project duties, and other duties as assigned. The Geotechnical Intern will work collaboratively with the responsible geotechnical engineer as part of the Burns & McDonnell Geotechnical Department, supporting and assisting with engineering-related services. Responsibilities include contributing to geotechnical design from the conceptual phase through design completion, compiling project-related data such as boring logs and subsurface profiles, and helping plan subsurface explorations and laboratory testing programs. The intern will apply basic knowledge of commonly used geotechnical engineering concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures to support the department’s work and gain hands‑on experience in the field.
$18.00-34.00 Hourly
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The final agreed upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location.
