Job summary

SOCOTEC has an opening for a Geotechnical Engineering Field and Lab Assistant Summer Intern in Austin, TX. The successful candidate will support field and laboratory testing and construction observation under supervision of geotechnical engineers and project managers.

Current enrollment in Civil Engineering, Geology, or Construction-related programs is required, and the candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and hold a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in Civil Engineering, Geology, or Construction-related Associates, Bachelor's or Graduate program.
• Able to perform a wide range of physical activities including lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record is required

Responsibilities

• Work alongside field and laboratory technicians in field and lab testing and construction observation.
• Assist geotechnical engineers and project managers with field operations as needed.
• Support reporting and documentation of test results and observations.

The successful candidate will work alongside field and laboratory technicians in the performance of construction materials field and lab testing and construction observation. Duties may also include assisting geotechnical engineers and project managers with any other aspects of field operations needed.

Salary range: Depending on qualifications

• Current enrollment in a Civil Engineering, Geology, or Construction-related Associates, Bachelor's or Graduate program
• Able to perform a wide range of physical activities including lifting up to 50 pounds of equipment on occasion
• Valid driver's license and good driving record is required
