Job summary

Langan is seeking an Intern/Co-op – Geotechnical Engineering in Jacksonville, FL. You will support field investigations, data collection, and basic analyses under geotechnical leadership while gaining exposure to feasibility studies and design documentation.

The role offers hands-on fieldwork, report preparation, and opportunities to work with geotechnical software and AutoCAD on diverse projects. Travel may be required as needed for project assignments.

Qualifications

• A student actively pursuing a 4-year or advanced degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering; Geotechnical coursework preferred.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater preferred.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; detail oriented; able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with field investigations: logging borings and test pits, collecting samples, performing field tests, and recording data.
• Observe foundation and earthwork construction activities; monitor conformance with plans and specifications.
• Identify and implement solutions to field and/or laboratory problems.
• Prepare logs, field forms, field investigation dailies, and chain of custody logs.
• Conduct site reconnaissance, file reviews, and document searches.
• Perform calculations and learn geotechnical software; learn to use AutoCAD for reports.
• Prepare report exhibits, figures, and plans using AutoCAD; document investigations and results.
• Perform other duties as requested.
