Job summary

Langan is seeking a Geotechnical Engineering Intern/Co-op in Dallas, TX. You will support field investigations, analyze soils and settlement issues, and assist senior engineers with reports and designs.

This internship offers hands-on experience in site feasibility studies, field work, calculations, and preparation of design plans, under geotechnical leadership. Strong communication and teamwork are essential; reliable transportation for site visits is required.

Qualifications

• A student actively pursuing a 4-year or advanced degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering; Geotechnical coursework preferred.
• A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater is preferred.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail with analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Possess reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license for site visits.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and execution of field investigations, including logging borings and test pits, collecting samples, and data recording.
• Observe foundation and earthwork construction activities; ensure conformance with plans and specifications.
• Identify and implement solutions to field and/or laboratory problems.
• Prepare standard logs and field forms (drilling logs, daily logs, chain of custody).
• Conduct file reviews, site reconnaissance, and document searches.
• Perform calculations and learn geotechnical analyses; learn geotechnical software.
• Prepare report exhibits, figures, and AutoCAD-based drawings.
• Prepare reports documenting field investigations and analytical results.
• Perform other duties as requested.
