Job summary

HDR, Inc. is offering a part-time Geotechnical Intern position in Irvine, California. The ideal candidate will assist with geotechnical calculations, investigations, and drilling activities while gaining real-world experience.

Geotechnical Intern

Responsibilities

• Assist in performing geotechnical calculations and analysis for small- and large-scale projects
• Assist in planning and conducting geotechnical investigations and site assessments
• Assist with geotechnical drilling, logging and preparing boring logs
• Gain real‑world experience on exciting projects
• Connect with recent college graduates and company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs
• Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures
• Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager

Preferred Qualifications

• Willingness and ability to go to the field as needed
• Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, familiarity with Geotechnical software
• Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
• Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
• Local candidates preferred

The ideal candidate will commit to working approximately 20 hours per week on‑site. This position does not offer remote work.
