Job summary

Essel is seeking a geotechnical field engineer in the United States to conduct field investigations, including drilling and site reconnaissance, coordinate with vendors, and review boring logs. You will analyze data, prepare technical memoranda, and report under guidance of the Project Engineer. Proficiency in MS Office and gINT, plus travel flexibility, are required.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducting geotechnical field investigations, including field drilling, site reconnaissance, marking exploration locations, obtaining necessary permits, and coordinating with vendors.
  • Reviewing boring logs and preparing data in gINT.
  • Performing engineering analyses based on available data.
  • Preparing technical memoranda and reports under the guidance of the Project Engineer or Project Manager.
Requirements:
  • Proficient in communication with clients and team members.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Self‑starter and initiator.
  • Able to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Flexibility in traveling to project sites and other offices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • A valid California driver’s license.
  • Experience with field drilling.
  • General geotechnical engineering analysis experience, such as foundation design, liquefaction analysis, slope stability, settlement evaluation, retaining wall design, or pavement design, is a plus.
