Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Geotechnical Engineering Co-op to join our New York City office for the Spring 2027 semester. The role provides hands-on exposure to geotechnical and tunnel projects under senior staff supervision, with some field work.

This temporary position offers mentorship through the Developing Professionals Network and opportunities to develop technical, social, and ethical skills while contributing to research, design calculations, and project documentation.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in Geotechnical/Civil Eng undergraduate program at Northeastern University with graduation June 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Geotechnical Engineering or related field and desire to advance skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with engineers and non-engineers.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership to execute projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and tools.
• Authorization to work in the United States at internship start.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Geotechnical Engineering.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
• Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and safety policies.
