Job summary

The Boring Company in Nashville, TN is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to develop and review geotechnical data reports, interpretation reports, and tunnel-related design documents for shaft and tunnel construction.

You will plan investigations, oversee settlement analyses, monitor construction, and provide geotechnical recommendations for means and methods. On-site work in tunnels, extended hours may be required.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering, Geology, Engineering Geology or related discipline.
• 1–10 years of experience in rock mechanics or hard rock conditions (tunneling, mining). More experience may lead to higher title/compensation.

Responsibilities

• Create geotechnical data reports, geotechnical interpretation reports, geotechnical design reports for tunnel and shaft construction.
• Create temporary support of excavation designs, reports, and drawings.
• Produce tunnel lining design documentation, including lateral earth pressure calculations.
• Perform ground settlement and construction impact analysis of subsurface structures and 3rd party infrastructure.
• Create and oversee the implementation of settlement monitoring plans.
• Plan and execute geotechnical investigations.
• Assist in the collection and review of as-built drawings and existing geotechnical data for subsurface due diligence.
• Provide geotechnical recommendations for construction means and methods.
• Perform construction period observation and inspection.
• Support brick operations with geotechnical recommendations and testing oversight.
