Placements24 is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer for a leading mining and infrastructure consultancy in East London, Eastern Cape. You will assess ground conditions, design stable excavations, and manage geotechnical risks across open-pit and underground mines.

The role demands 5+ years of mining-geotech experience, proficiency with FLAC/PLAXIS and CAD, and strong report-writing and communication skills; willingness to travel to projects and sites is essential.

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geotechnical/Civil engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of geotechnical engineering experience with mining exposure.
• Experience with geotechnical data analysis, interpretation and numerical modeling (FLAC, PLAXIS).
• Familiarity with mining rock/soil conditions; strong reporting and communication skills.

Responsabilidades

• Conduct site investigations including geological mapping, borehole supervision, and in-situ testing.
• Perform geotechnical analysis for open-pit slopes, underground excavations, and tailings facilities.
• Develop detailed geotechnical designs including supports, slope stabilization, and foundations.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, design documents and risk assessments.
• Provide on-site geotechnical supervision during construction and operations.
• Monitor ground conditions and liaise with clients, project managers and other disciplines.
