Job summary

The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) invites applications for the position of Assistant Geotechnical Engineer in Pierre, SD. This full-time role provides geotechnical design information and construction support for state transportation projects, involving subsurface investigations, laboratory analysis, and design recommendations for foundations, embankments, and slope stability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geological Engineering or related field.
• Eligible for FE or PE licensure (Engineer license).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide geotechnical design information and construction support for state projects.
• Assist with geologic studies, subsurface information collection, and lab analysis.
• Develop design recommendations for foundations, soil embankments, subgrade, and slope stability.
• Travel for site inspections and support work statewide.
