Job summary

The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) is seeking an Assistant Geotechnical Engineer to support geotechnical design and construction for transportation projects across the state. You will assist the Foundation, Geology, and Soils Sections with studies, subsurface data collection, and lab analysis to deliver foundation and slope stability recommendations.

Work is normally in an office setting with eight-hour days and statewide travel for site inspections and construction support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil or Geological Engineering (or related field) required.
• FE or PE license required or eligible.
• Willing to travel statewide for site inspections and project support.

Responsibilities

• Provide geotechnical design information and construction support for transportation projects.
• Assist Foundation, Geology, and Soils Sections with geologic studies and subsurface data collection.
• Prepare design recommendations for foundations, soils, and slope stability.
