Job summary

Olsson is seeking an Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer to join their Rail Construction and Administration Management team. You will bridge soils to structures, assist with geotechnical analysis, foundation design, and report writing, working with a larger design team and observing projects on site.

The role requires a civil/geotechnical engineering degree, EI certification, and willingness to travel to several offices and project sites in the Midwest.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or geotechnical engineering required.
  • Must possess or obtain engineer intern certificate (EI).
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite products.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing 30 pounds or more.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Bridge the gap between soils at client sites and structures, ensuring stability and strength.
  • Assist on geotechnical analysis, foundation and subsurface design, and construction evaluation.
  • Assist with geotechnical reports and collaboration with other engineering disciplines.
  • Assist with project schedules and execution; travel to project sites for observation.
  • Perform research and work with drafters to create design drawings under supervision.
