Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates (HCEA) in Harrisburg, PA seeks an entry-level Staff Engineer to support geotechnical and CMT teams on diverse public and private projects. You will assist with field observations, soil classification, laboratory analyses, and geotechnical report preparation under supervision.

Qualifications

• BS and/or MS in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• Entry-level position; no prior professional work experience required.
• Valid driver''s license with satisfactory driving record and reliable vehicle.
• Ability to meet pre-employment requirements and travel overnight when needed.
• Ability to read engineering and construction plans/specifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist with test boring/test pit observations and other geotechnical field tests.
• Perform soil classification and laboratory analyses.
• Prepare geotechnical reports and calculations.
• Manage field staff and review daily CMT field reports.
• Occasionally perform on-site construction materials testing services.
