Job summary

Geo-Technology Associates Inc. (GTA) seeks a Project Geotechnical Engineer with 5+ years of experience, based in our Laurel, MD office.

You will manage complex projects, write proposals, conduct geotechnical explorations, prepare reports, and perform analyses to support structural projects. Responsibilities include subsurface investigations, bearing capacity and slope stability analyses, foundations design, earth retention, and forensic studies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in geotechnical engineering or civil engineering; PE preferred.
• MS Degree in geotechnical engineering preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal skills; familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• CADD experience and experience with geotechnical design software.

Responsibilities

• Subsurface investigations including test borings, cone penetration testing, and test pits; review exploration logs, lab results, and plans.
• Analyze bearing capacity, settlement, earth pressures, pavement design, and slope stability.
• Design and analyze intermediate to deep foundations and ground improvement for structural support.
• Design temporary and permanent earth retention systems; perform forensic investigation and failure analysis.
• Prepare geotechnical and stormwater infiltration reports and submittals.
