Qualifications

  • Bachelors in civil, structural or geotechnical engineering required; masters preferred.
  • PE license in NJ/NY/MA or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • NCTI Certification preferred.
  • 5-8 years' experience in engineering consultancy.
  • Proficient in STRAND7, SAP, STAAD; geotechnical software like Plaxis/GeoStudio.

Responsibilities

  • Support geotechnical projects in the US and Canada.
  • Oversee staff and field investigations for design data.
  • Contribute to analyses for tunnels and underground structures.
  • Develop field instrumentation programs and evaluate data.
  • Manage staff delivering design solutions, reports, and drawings.
  • Write reports and technical memoranda for clients.

Mott MacDonald is excited to invite talented professionals to join our dynamic and rapidly growing geotechnical team. We are currently seeking adaptable and highly motivated civil, geotechnical, or structural engineers in the NY/NJ or MA region to serve as Engineer within our geotechnical resource group. This role centers on underground design and construction projects, providing the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge work in the transportation and water/wastewater sectors. Responsibilities include:
  • Support the delivery of our existing portfolio of geotechnical projects in the U.S. and Canada.
  • Oversight of staff and execution of field investigation programs to collect data for use in design, conditionassessmentsand the preparation of Reports;
  • Contribution to detailed analyses for our projects involving tunnels and underground structures
  • Development of field instrumentation programs and evaluation of collected data;
  • Management of staff producing design solutions, reports, and contributions to/reviews of specifications and drawings;
  • Writingreports for submission to clients, including design-related technical memoranda and Reports;
  • Direct client engagement working with guidance from senior management; including liaising with clients, responding to queries, and attending design and progress meetings.
  • Contribution to and preparation of proposals for submission to clients;
  • Ability to lay out/develop a design program and independently manage a teamofstaff;
  • Managing and mentoring junior/graduate engineers and supporting their development;
Candidate Specification

We’relooking for an Engineer to join our team and invite applications from candidates with:

  • Bachelors in civil, structural or geotechnical engineering isrequiredand aMastersin a related field is preferred.
  • Professional engineer (PE) license in New Jersey,New York, Massachusetts or ability to obtain a license within 12 months;
  • NCTI Certified is preferred.
  • 5-8 years of experience in engineering consultancy (not including education)
  • Proficient in the use of structural software: STRAND7, SAP,STAADor equivalent.
  • Proficient in the use of geotechnical software, this may includePlaxis, GeoStudio packages/Slide,Rocsciencepackages, geotechnical data management (GINT/Holebase). A working knowledge of BIM tools (Bentley/Autodesk) would also beadvantageous.
  • Demonstratable record in design with experience in geotechnicalengineering ,ground characterization for soil and rock and a working knowledge of concrete,steeland foundation design
  • Strong references from past managers or clients;
  • Interest in underground design and construction for the transport, water orwastewater Sectorsand multidisciplinary working experience would also beadvantageous.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.

The expected salary for this position is $107,000 - $130,000
