A Geotechnical Engineer will use the principles of soil and rock mechanics to investigate the earth's components and determine their properties. This enables the engineer to assess project site suitability and work with the land's lay to ensure optimal results. The engineer also assists Project Managers with detailed engineering analysis, report preparation, permit applications, and construction plans.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Conduct geotechnical subsurface investigations related to civil design (building foundations, slopes, retaining walls, landslides, pavements) and provide construction quality assurance services.
  • Coordinate or monitor subsurface drilling, obtain soil and rock samples, prepare boring logs, develop laboratory testing programs, interpret data, perform analyses, and prepare detailed reports.
  • Support quality assurance services for landfill and impoundment construction and closure projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for producing precise technical plans and drawings.
  • Understanding of construction materials, methods, and tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to X% with occasional overnight stays.
  • Valid driver's license and insurability on the company policy.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering with a Geotechnical focus.
  • At least 5 years of related professional experience.
  • Professional Engineer license.
  • Completion of IMEG's new engineer mentoring program or at least three years of qualifying experience.

This position is not eligible for sponsorship.

Salary range: $70,000 - $75,000. Compensation varies based on experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Benefits include bonuses, stock options, health insurance, wellness programs, life and disability insurance, retirement plans, paid holidays, and PTO.
