How You’ll Contribute…

We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to contribute to the design, cost estimating, and construction of Utility-Scale PV and BESS projects. This role focuses on analyzing technical data, developing cost-effective solutions, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-value outcomes for Boyd Jones clients. Remote working arrangements may be considered for candidates with the appropriate experience.

Key Responsibilities…

• Perform design tasks related to foundations, roadways, and other structural or civil systems for solar projects.
• Analyze geotechnical data, review technical reports, and recommend further testing or refinements as needed.
• Develop foundation and roadway designs, including performing driven steel pile foundation design for utility-scale solar projects.
• Specify and review pile test programs to support structural design deliverables.
• Evaluate designs provided by others to improve project value and manage risks.
• Conduct Pile Lateral and Axial Analysis and assist in building design tools.
• Review plans and specifications for constructability and cost.
• Collaborate across civil, structural, and electrical engineering disciplines.
• Work closely with clients to understand technical needs and deliver tailored solutions that meet the needs of all project stakeholders.
  
  

What You’ll Bring…

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent.
• Civil or Geotechnical Professional Engineer (PE) registration required.
• Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience.
• Minimum of 2 years specializing in PV Array pile foundation design.
• Proficiency in LPile, Allpile, or equivalent foundation analysis software required.
• Familiarity with codes and standards such as ASCE 7, IBC, AISC 360, and ASTM test methods required. Knowledge of AISI S100, ACI 318, UL 3703, and AASHTO Green Book is also preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects efficiently.
