Job summary

HDR, Inc. seeks a Geotechnical EIT/Designer in Vienna, VA to conduct analyses, develop design options, and assist in cost estimates. You'll perform slope stability and geotechnical studies on routine to moderately sized projects, and work with senior engineers on larger assignments.

Preferred: Master's degree and EIT or ability to obtain. Local candidates preferred; HDR emphasizes an employee-owned, inclusive culture and a comprehensive benefits package.

  • Experience with MS Office and software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analyses to develop design options and assist in cost estimates.
  • Perform routine engineering tasks using standard techniques.
  • Conduct slope stability, settlement, and seepage analyses for projects.
  • Assist senior engineers on larger projects.
  • Provide direction to clerical and technical staff as needed.

In the role of Geotechnical EIT/Designer, we'll count on you to:
  • Conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations, and assist in the preparation of cost estimates and specifications
  • Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures
  • Conduct slope stability, settlement and seepage analysis and conduct geotechnical engineering studies on routine and moderately sized projects
  • Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables
  • Work independently on small projects, or assist more-senior engineers on larger projects
  • Give direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree
  • EIT or the ability to obtain. Candidates hired without their EIT will be expected to obtain in 6 months for career progression
  • Local candidates preferred
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Experience with MS Office and software applications
