Job summary

UES, Inc. is seeking a Driller's Assistant to support geotechnical drilling, soil exploration, and site investigations. You will operate and maintain drilling equipment, assist the drill crew chief, and help prepare reports and documentation.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, and comfortable working outdoors. Expect local to extended travel, with some overnight stays and variable schedules to meet project needs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 0–3 years of Civil/Geotechnical/Environmental field services preferred.
  • 40-hour OSHA training preferred; must be able to pass and maintain OSHA 40HR certification.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record; CDL preferred or willing to obtain.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret blueprints, procedures, manuals, and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and test soil, concrete, and construction materials to project specs.
  • Ensure testing equipment functions and remains calibrated.
  • Operate drilling-related tools including jackhammers and pressure washers.
  • Assist with rig setup, assembly/disassembly, and site preparation.
  • Maintain drilling rigs, vehicles, and work areas for safety and condition.
  • Complete daily time and labor reports and submit paperwork on time.
  • Travel to project sites; adapt to schedule changes including overnight or weekends.
  • Follow OSHA and safety policies; ensure compliance and safety at worksites.
