Job summary

Wagman, Inc. in Berryville, VA seeks a Construction Engineer to join our Geotechnical Group. You will support design-build projects, assist Project Managers, and contribute to deep foundation and retaining wall design work.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, 3+ years in heavy civil or geotechnical work, and proficiency with Excel, AutoCAD, HeavyJobs, and Pro. Regional travel is expected; on-site work at Berryville office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering preferred, with experience in Geotechnical and Heavy Civil a plus; Construction Management considered
• Familiar with foundations, bridge construction, temporary shoring, retaining walls, and all other highway construction scopes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented

Responsibilities

• Support engineering team conducting Geotechnical, Civil & Structural engineering evaluation that includes design foundations and retaining wall systems (temporary and permanent)
• Engineering and Drawing preparation
• Willing to assist project manager on related project requirements (QA/QC, maintaining productivity records, evaluating and/or tracking project cost and performance of the engineering system)
• Helps to coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and superintendents to ensure that the project is built per plan
• Order materials/tools required for the job, track quantities, run production reports and review with field crews
• Review and approve shop drawings, draft RFIs and assist with submittals
• Provides technical information to company supervisor and contractors to ensure work complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions
• Reviews, analyzes, and resolves field construction problems, discrepancies, or interferences with contractors
• Provides interpretation of plans, detail sheets, and specifications for contractors or craft supervision
