Job summary

Wagman is seeking a Construction Engineer to join our Geotechnical Group in Berryville, VA, with regional travel. The role supports design-build projects, focusing on deep foundations, retaining walls, and related geotechnical tasks.

The ideal candidate has civil/structural background, strong communication, and ability to work independently while assisting project managers on various engineering evaluations and shop drawing reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering preferred; Construction Management considered
• Familiar with foundations, bridge construction, temporary shoring, retaining walls, and highway construction scopes
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong prioritization and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Support engineering team conducting Geotechnical, Civil & Structural evaluations including design foundations and retaining walls
• Engineering and drawing preparation
• Assist project managers on QA/QC and project cost/performance tracking of the engineering system
• Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and superintendents to ensure project is built per plan
• Order materials/tools, track quantities, and review with field crews
• Review and approve shop drawings, draft RFIs, and assist with submittals
• Provide technical information to supervisors and contractors to ensure compliance with standards
• Review, analyze, and resolve field construction problems and interferences
• Interpret plans, detail sheets, and specifications for contractors
