Job summary

Wagman is seeking a Construction Engineer to join the Geotechnical Group in Berryville, VA. This role supports deep foundation design-build projects and assists Project Managers on related geotechnical engineering evaluations.

The candidate will have a Civil or Structural Engineering background with familiarity in foundations, retaining walls, and heavy civil scopes. Proficiency in Excel, AutoCAD, and Microsoft software is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering preferred; Geotechnical/Heavy Civil experience a plus; Construction Management considered.
• Familiar with foundations, bridge construction, temporary shoring, retaining walls and highway construction scopes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong prioritization and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering team conducting Geotechnical, Civil & Structural evaluations including design foundations and retaining wall systems.
• Prepare engineering drawings and related documentation.
• Assist project managers with QA/QC, productivity records, and cost/performance tracking.
• Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and superintendents to ensure plans are followed.
• Order materials/tools, track quantities, run production reports, and review with field crews.
• Review and approve shop drawings, draft RFIs and assist with submittals.
• Provide technical information to ensure compliance with standards, codes, and design instructions.
• Analyze field construction problems and resolve discrepancies with contractors.
• Interpret plans and specifications for contractors and supervisors.
