Job summary

Fox Point Recruitment LLC is seeking a Geotechnical Department Manager in Charlotte, North Carolina to lead a growing geotechnical engineering team. This senior role combines technical oversight, operational management, staff development, and business development to support departmental growth.

The successful candidate will guide project execution, manage budgets and forecasts, review technical reports, and foster client relationships while promoting safety, quality, and company values.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Geological Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil or geotechnical engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) license.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team management experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in geotechnical engineering principles and applications.
• Experience managing departmental budgets, forecasting, and profit and loss responsibilities.
• Proven success developing client relationships and supporting business growth.
• Solid understanding of geotechnical site conditions and construction practices.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of geotechnical engineering projects.
• Lead a team of geotechnical engineers, geologists, project managers, and technicians.
• Ensure projects adhere to geotechnical engineering best practices, safety standards, and quality control procedures.
• Perform technical review of proposals, reports, and calculations.
• Track department budget, revenue, forecasts, and financial performance.
• Set goals for the geotechnical group and develop staff skills through training initiatives.
• Assist senior staff with business development efforts through community involvement and client engagement.
• Promote company values, positive culture, and high employee engagement.
