Job summary

ECS Group of Companies in West Chester, OH is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Department Manager to lead our geotechnical engineering team. You will direct project delivery, staff development, client satisfaction, and business growth while aligning with ECS core values.

You will manage engineers and project managers, oversee budgets and safety, and drive opportunities with key clients. A PE or PG license is preferred, with 6+ years in engineering consulting and strong leadership capabilities.

Qualifications

• 6 years of related experience in geotechnical engineering or consulting.
• Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or geology.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Professional Geologist (P.G.) license preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in engineering consulting operations, budgeting, and KPIs.

Responsibilities

• Directs engineers, Project Managers, technicians, and support staff.
• Owns performance management, coaching, career development, and succession planning.
• Builds a high-performing, accountable team culture and staffing strategy.
• Develops recruitment, hiring, and retention plans.
• Oversees project execution with quality, safety, schedule, and budget in mind.
• Manages department P&L, budgets, forecasts, and KPIs.
• Drives client relationships and department growth strategies.
• Promotes safety culture and compliance with regulations.
