Job summary

Geosyntec invites an Intern / Co-Op – Civil / Geotechnical Engineering to join our Johnson City, Tennessee office. The role provides hands-on experience applying civil, geotechnical, geological, and water resources concepts to dam and levee projects, with mentoring and professional development.

The position runs for about 13 to 15 weeks in spring or summer 2027, totaling 40 hours per week. Transportation to the office is the candidate’s responsibility.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering (required).
• Civil, geotechnical, environmental or water resources focus preferred.
• Strong academic credentials and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with engineering calculations using computer-based tools.
• Prepare technical reports, letters, and proposals.
• Input and analyze data; create maps, tables, and figures.
• Coordinate with engineers, geologists, staff, draftsmen, contractors and crews.
• Possibility of fieldwork such as soil and groundwater sampling and dam/levee inspections.
• Drive to project sites as needed.
