U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites applications for a Civil Engineer position in New York, NY under Direct Hire Authority.

The role reports to the Chief of the Civil Design Section and involves planning and construction directives, soil investigations, and cost-effective design development. The selected candidate will assess geotechnical data, prepare designs and reports, and may relocate to Jersey City, NJ by 2027.

Qualifikationen

• Specialized experience applying civil engineering principles to geotechnical tasks.
• Experience with field site visits and recording lab data.
• Proficiency with CAD and engineering spreadsheets or databases.

Aufgaben

• Direct and coordinate the preparation of designs, plans, specs, and cost estimates for foundations and structures.
• Prepare soil profiles, analyze field investigations, and review soil mechanics lab tests.
• Conduct studies to establish design limits and criteria.
• Perform subsurface analyses including bearing capacity, settlement, stress, seepage, and consolidation.
• Develop cost-reducing alternatives under the value engineering program and prepare related reports.
