Job summary

KBR Careers in California is seeking a Software Engineer to contribute to real-time geospatial mapping for planetary exploration. You will develop web-based tools and interfaces supporting Artemis-era missions and CLPS data integration.

You will work with JavaScript, Vue, CesiumJS and a Python/Flask backend, building scalable UI components, 2D/3D map visualizations, and data services to enable rapid decision-making by science teams.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship or permanent resident required.
• Expertise in JavaScript with at least one MVC framework (React, Vue, Bootstrap, or Angular).
• Experience with 2D mapping libraries (OpenLayers, CesiumJS, Leaflet, Google Maps API, etc.).
• Familiar with map projections and coordinate systems.
• Familiar with map services (Google/Bing Maps, MapBox, or similar).
• 3D graphics experience related to terrain mapping and DEMs.

Responsibilities

• Develop real-time geospatial mapping UI for planetary exploration.
• Collaborate with NASA CLPS science teams to integrate mission data.
• Implement interactive, web-based tools for visualization, planning, and decision support.
• Integrate AI tools and provide interfaces for data summarization and search.
