Job summary

Maryland Department of Planning is seeking a Geospatial Application Developer to design, develop, and maintain state-of-the-art GIS web solutions. You will lead projects using ArcGIS Enterprise, Portal, and related frameworks while ensuring accessibility and data quality across statewide initiatives.

The role requires strong programming in Python, SQL, JavaScript, and Arcade, plus experience with ArcGIS Pro and REST APIs.

Qualifications

• Deep familiarity with ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro and REST APIs.
• Experience developing interactive GIS applications and dashboards with web technologies.
• Advanced programming skills in Python, SQL, JavaScript, Arcade.
• Experience using ETL tools, specifically FME.
• Strong collaboration and communication across teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and maintenance of interactive GIS web applications and dashboards.
• Automate workflows with Python, SQL, and other languages.
• Ensure responsive design and accessibility for public-facing platforms.
• Review and validate analyses, scripts, and outputs from junior staff.
• Document data dictionaries and GIS standards; train staff.
