Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Geospatial Linguist (Toponymist) to analyze and conflate GNDB data with GNDB while collaborating with IC geographic names experts. The role requires scanning maps, georeferencing imagery, and applying US BGN/DoS/NATO policies. Active TS/SCI with willingness to obtain a POLY is REQUIRED.

Ideal candidates have ArcGIS or GeoMedia Pro experience, HPSS-level linguistics credentials, and strong research/data-entry skills to ensure accurate name usage across products.

Qualifications

• Requires HS and 5 years of prior relevant experience.
• ILR Skill Level Two certification for reading Vietnamese or willing to pass a 2+ test with 3+ years of relevant experience
• Experience using ArcGIS or GeoMedia Pro; creating shapefiles, geodatabases, and mapping imagery for extraction
• Active TS/SCI and willingness to obtain a POLY clearance to be considered.
• BA degree and 4 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 years of experience; additional years may compensate for lack of degree

Responsibilities

• Scan and geo-reference hardcopy maps; research and order geospatial data sources.
• Georeference maps and imagery; apply GNDB guidelines and policies from US BGN, DoS, NATO and related organizations.
