Job summary

Martin Marietta Summer GIS Internship provides students with meaningful, hands‑on experience applying Geographic Information Systems within the aggregates mining industry. This ~10-week program offers the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real‑world projects while developing technical, analytical, problem‑solving, and operational skills.

Working alongside experienced GIS professionals, geologists, engineers, and other mining professionals, GIS Interns gain exposure to geospatial data

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in GIS, GIScience, or geospatial data-related field.
Coursework in GIS Fundamentals and ArcGIS Pro completed prior to internship.
Valid driver’s license and ability to learn technical processes.

Responsibilities

Follow safety, environmental, and ethical standards in all activities.
Assist with Enterprise GIS data development and content delivery projects.
Contribute to development and maintenance of GIS datasets related to boundaries, ownership, zoning, and land use.
Integrate property records from deeds, plats, and tax records into GIS datasets.
Collect, clean, and maintain geospatial datasets from sources such as imagery, GPS, and surveys.
Assist with workflow automation for repeatable geoprocessing tasks.
Support design and production of maps, applications, and visualizations for reports.
Align all activities with Martin Marietta's mission, values, and Code of Conduct.
