Job summary

Martin Marietta's Summer GIS Internship in Raleigh, NC offers approximately 10 weeks of hands-on experience applying Geographic Information Systems (GIS) within the aggregates mining industry.

Interns work with seasoned GIS professionals, geologists, engineers, and other mining professionals on data management, mapping, spatial analysis, data visualization, and related GIS applications to support operations.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Geographic Information Systems or related field.
• Coursework in GIS Fundamentals using ArcGIS Pro completed prior to the internship.
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to learn technical processes and adapt to a fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities

• Follow and promote safety, environmental, and ethical standards in all work activities.
• Assist with Enterprise GIS data development and content delivery projects.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of Enterprise GIS datasets related to property boundaries, ownership, zoning, and land use.
• Integrate property records from various sources into GIS datasets.
• Collect, clean, and maintain geospatial datasets from various sources (e.g., satellite imagery, GPS, surveys).
• Assist with the development and implementation of workflow automation for repeatable geoprocessing tasks.
• Support the design and production of high-quality maps, applications, and visualizations for reports and presentations.
