Job summary

Parsons is seeking a Geospatial Frontend Engineer to design and develop mission-critical geospatial applications. You will build responsive UIs that visualize large datasets and live feeds, leveraging React, TypeScript, OpenLayers, CesiumJS, and WebGL.

You will collaborate with UX designers, systems engineers, and DevOps teams to ensure performance, security, and maintainability while growing frontend capabilities for national security missions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field and 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a heavy emphasis on React and modern frontend ecosystem tools.
• Experience developing frontend applications with React and TypeScript.
• Strong knowledge of modern JavaScript, ES6+ and asynchronous programming.
• Experience designing reusable, maintainable UI components.
• Experience with geospatial data or mapping technologies (GeoJSON, KML, raster/vector tiles, OpenLayers, CesiumJS, MapLibre, Mapbox).

Responsibilities

• Design frontend architecture for complex geospatial applications using React, TypeScript, and modern patterns.
• Build high-performance geospatial visualizations and mapping components with OpenLayers, CesiumJS, or WebGL.
• Work with large real-time geospatial datasets and map layers.
• Profile and optimize rendering, memory, and network performance for responsive UIs.
• Develop data-intensive workflows with asynchronous programming and web workers.
• Integrate secure APIs and cloud-native services with backend DevOps partners.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers, product owners, and engineers to deliver mission-focused interfaces.
• Write maintainable, well-tested code and participate in code reviews.
